Although I fall far short of a woodworker, I do enjoy working out in the shop. Over the course of the past year, I’ve tried my hand at refinishing and building from scratch. Sometimes I get carried away, like when I made three of the children’s picnic tables just because I wanted to see if I could improve. I originally made one for my grandchildren to use on our deck, but it just seemed I could try it with a little different style or different wood. I ended up with one on the deck and two taking up space in the garage shop. I’m sure my wife would appreciate it if I could find homes for some of my projects so we could get both cars in the garage if needed.
I began my picnic journey by building a table for our deck. That table hasn’t made it to the deck, but has been serving as a project table in the shop. I had a request for another table by a friend, so I took another stab at it.
My daughter requested a bench for her apartment balcony. It isn’t quite finished yet. I’ll try to get back to it as soon as we hit some warmer days.
I have a terrible issue with starting a refinish project without getting before pictures. This sewing machine was my mother-in-law’s. It was in rough shape after spending a lot of time in storage and a family home fire. I’d already taken it apart and removed most of the old finish before I thought about taking pictures.
I had several refinishing projects as I helped my daughter furnish her apartment.
